Band Of Brothers

I remember when this first came on HBO and I was glued to my tv every night it was on. Saving Private Ryan and Thin Red Line were the only films that really had this sort of look to them at that time but were different in the sense that Saving Private Ryan tried for more realism while Thin Red Line tried to mix realism with an incredible look. I love the look of Thin Red Line and I might even make another post with a scene from that but I always though that the look that Saving Private Ryan and Band of Brothers had was more unique. Sure there have been people who have tried it since but its never really gotten back to the washed out yet warm look that both of those had. Anyway, Band of Brothers is over 10 hours long and I could pick maybe a couple hundred shots that I loved in it but two shots in this long ass video are tied for my favorite. The first is at the 2:17 mark with Blithe screaming as bullets whiz past his foxhole, striking the trees and ground around it. The second is at the 3:36 mark where Blithe is being screamed at to fire his rifle and he takes a moment to gather the courage and then he takes aim and the sounds of the battle around him drop out leaving only the sound of his rifle and the noises he is making. It ends with what might be the most badass shot of the whole series of the spent cartridge flipping out of the rifle in slow motion with a metallic spinning type sound over it. I don’t know really how to explain all this but I fucking love it and I wish I fuckin shot that.

P.S. Im not saying that this scene isnt worth sitting through. I love the whole thing so if you’ve got 10 minutes to spare. watch it all. or better yet, go get the entire series.
